Who We Are ?

The 1990’s witnessed a turning point in the history of Muslim education in Kerala. Many organizations and institutions were setup in different parts of the state catering to the religious and material educational needs of the muslim society. Sunni Board of Education was established unleashing daring and innovative experiments in the field of religious education. Literally, it was a renaissance in education. But the education of Muslim women was still suffering. Absence of adequate and dedicated institutions was the chief reason for this set back. The idea of a dedicated institution for the multi-dimensional education of Muslim women prompted the founders of Al Banath to set up an institution for women on the banks of river Chaliyar. Since its inception, it has been rendering yeomen service to the society providing opportunities of education to those who were denied of it. A trailblazer in this field, Al Banath differs from its peers in the variety and depth of educational service it offers. Al Banath crosses yet another milestone in its history completing 20 years of fruitful service. Throughout these years Al Banath has been developing into a full fledged women’s complex with poor home, orphan care, boarding madrassa, Shareath College, higher secondary school, Arts College, skill development centre and coaching centre for medical and engineering entrance. Now it houses more than 300 students. This institution is keen to impart quality education and maintains good discipline and high moral standards. The students of this institution keep excellent academic standards and have bagged 7 ranks at university level and 4 ranks at madrassa educational board exams. The serene atmosphere at Al Banath campus on the banks of the river Chaliyar is an ideal location for women to pursue their studies. So that students from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep, apart from the entire districts of Kerala, hail to this destination seeking higher studies. The sole financial source of this institution is the charity of the well wishers and contributions from philanthropists. Lack of adequate facilities has often compelled the authorities to turn down many applications every year. Infrastructure has to be improved to accommodate the applicants which increase in number every successive year. Measures which are already under way for infrastructure development, find no way out due to financial stress. Prophet Muhammed(p.b.h) has told us that an excellent lady is the richest treasure of the world. Women have an unquestionable role in the moulding of the future generation and shaping the personality of the household. Only an educated and cultured woman can shoulder this burden of shaping the posterity. That is why Al Banath dares to lay its hands upon women’s education sector which is undermined by the society in general. To take up this challenge, Al Banath needs your helping hands to be extended towards it by way of charity, prayer and moral support.
